On Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12:00 pm, St Joe Community Church will host a memorial service for Laura Louise Henderson Mann, 75, who passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, December 29, 2020. All are welcome to join in person or by way of Zoom.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Laura was the daughter of the late Edward and Amelia Henderson.  She earned an associate’s degree from Columbia College and a bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Texas at Denton.

Laura served as a program manager at the American Association for the Advancement of Science and later as a legal secretary at Wilmer Hale in Washington D.C., prior to her retirement in Green Valley, Arizona. She was a political news hound, active in local politics and community service. She volunteered for the Ross Perot for President campaign of 1992 and for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords through the 2000s. Her soft spot was for dogs, especially golden retrievers, pit bulls and basset hounds, and she was a regular at the Quail Creek Dog Park.

Surviving are her sons, Christopher (Ruth) Mann, Alan (Jennifer Jackson) Mann; 10 grandchildren; sister, Marion Henderson; and brother, Robert (Leilani) Henderson. Laura was preceded in death by her sister, Heather Henderson, and her husband, Marvin Mann, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hear Indiana in honor of her four deaf and hard-of-hearing grandchildren. www.HearIndiana.org.

On January 7, the link will be added to this news post as well as posted to the home page at www.StJoeCommunityChurch.org.

It is sad to hear that my close friend has passed. We both lived in Royalty, T X till we graduated GRHS in 1963. She was born in the morning and I came into being that afternoon in Ft. Stockton, TX. In April 11, 1945. She called me out of the blue a month or 3 ago. I am grateful that we knew each other for so long. My her family and friends remember her lovingly. I am glad that I knew her.

My heart is broken as I’ve lost a lifetime friend. Laura and I have been friends since we were 9 years old.
Chris and Alan, your mother loved you and your families very much.

I loved Laura! What a blessing she was to me. She was an expert in being a friend. We met in our fifties and she quickly jumped up to help, afffirm and protect me in a difficult situation. I will never forget a long trip we took together from Arizona to Indiana to visit her son Chris's family. That was so much fun!
She gave me my favorite nickname! I'm so glad God brought her to me.
She loved her sons Chirs and Allen and her grandchildren very much. At that time she could not stop talking about her sweet grandaughter Lidia and later her sweet grandson Micah.
I loved her elegance; the way she moved her hands; and her sweetness and joyful spirit! She was a great listener.
I just hope to resume our friendship again in heaven.

My husband Casey Boettcher and I are saddened to hear of Laura's passing. She was an incredibly loyal friend of Casey's mother, Charlotte. To Laura, we hope you got home on country roads. xoxoxox
