This Sunday, I will begin a new series, Reasons to Believe. We'll focus on three parts of the Christmas story: Was it a miracle, chance or grand conspiracy?

12/16 The predicted pregnancy — The virgin birth of Jesus
12/23 The predicted place — the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem
12/30 The predicted plight — The escape of Jesus to Egypt

May you experience the hope and peace that only Christ can give us during this busy season!

Before giving her life to Christ as a young adult in 1858, Charlotte "Lottie" Diggs Moon liked to antagonize local Christians that her middle initial -- D., standing for "Diggs" -- actually stood for "Devil." 16 years later at the age of 33, Lottie answered a call to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the northern Chinese province of Shandong, the burial place of Chinese philosopher and cultural icon Confucius. Lottie would serve in Shangdong until her death in 1912. In 1918, the Southern Baptist Convention honored Lottie's memory by affixing her name to their annual Christmas offering for missions. Exactly 100 years later in 2018, St Joe is delighted to support the 2018 International Mission Board's Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. On December 9, St Joe will take up an offering to support this mission.
