On Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12:00 pm, St Joe Community Church will host a memorial service for Laura Louise Henderson Mann, 75, who passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, December 29, 2020. All are welcome to join in person or by way of Zoom.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Laura was the daughter of the late Edward and Amelia Henderson.  She earned an associate’s degree from Columbia College and a bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Texas at Denton.

Laura served as a program manager at the American Association for the Advancement of Science and later as a legal secretary at Wilmer Hale in Washington D.C., prior to her retirement in Green Valley, Arizona. She was a political news hound, active in local politics and community service. She volunteered for the Ross Perot for President campaign of 1992 and for Congresswoman Gabby Giffords through the 2000s. Her soft spot was for dogs, especially golden retrievers, pit bulls and basset hounds, and she was a regular at the Quail Creek Dog Park.

Surviving are her sons, Christopher (Ruth) Mann, Alan (Jennifer Jackson) Mann; 10 grandchildren; sister, Marion Henderson; and brother, Robert (Leilani) Henderson. Laura was preceded in death by her sister, Heather Henderson, and her husband, Marvin Mann, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hear Indiana in honor of her four deaf and hard-of-hearing grandchildren. www.HearIndiana.org.

On January 7, the link will be added to this news post as well as posted to the home page at www.StJoeCommunityChurch.org.

Coronovirus Update Nov 18, 2020

By Pastor Greg Byman

God is our refuge and strength  Psalm 46:1

I knew statistically my symptoms would be likely be mild and thankfully that has been true so far.  However, the mystery surrounding this virus gave me great pause when I tested positive for COVID-19 last week.  Psalm 46:1 became God's personal words of comfort for me.  God used the the calls, text messages and social media posts from my church family as a spiritual refuge of love and strength.  Thank you everyone who prayed and offered support!  As of today, my symptoms are mostly gone, Bonita and Janae are fine, and we should all emerge from quarantine tomorrow, Lord willing.  Thank you Jesus!

COVID-19 Update

Indiana and Allen County restrictions on gatherings will not alter St Joe's current plans at this point.  We will continue to provide an 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday worship.  Our 6:30 PM Wednesday Prayer and Bible Study is another way to connect in person.  All our gatherings require masks and social distancing, just like other public buildings.  No holiday fellowship meals or gatherings are planned at this time.  Connection Groups are making their own decisions regarding in-person/virtual gatherings.  Please watch our Facebook, E-News, website and Remind text alerts for new updates.  I am thankful for all our volunteers who are working so hard to help us gather meaningfully and safely right now!

I am with you always  Matthew 28:20

Jesus promised his presence forever. He walks with us through mental stress, relationship strains, political turmoil, economic hardships and physical dangers.  The church he started to build in the First Century continues into the 21st.  I pray we will experience the true peace of Christ as we join Him in his eternal work of bringing people to Himself for salvation and the true peace

Coronovirus update: Masks required in all services

11/15/2020

St Joe Team Leaders decided to require masks at all future worship services (8:30 & 10:30 AM) beginning tomorrow, out of an abundance of safety concerns. This is also in keeping with requirements in all public buildings in Indiana right now.

Thank you,

Pastor Greg

New at St Joe: Text Message List

Join our new @stjoecom Text Alert Group!
St Joe is now using Remind to send text alerts for prayer praises/requests, special announcements, and other urgent news. Text @stjoecom to 81010 and you will receive quick reply saying you are signed up! Message and data rates may apply.  We promise not to flood your phone with messages. Our goal is to keep you informed with the latest church family info.
Subscribing to this e-newsletter and  @stjoecom text alerts are the best ways to receive timely news.  Facebook and YouTube are also great ways connected with us online.  As we announced last month, the St Joe Yahoo email group (our original alert system) will disappear by the end of the year.
I am grateful for all these new ways to connect electronically.  However, they will never replace face-to-face or voice-to-voice!  Spiritual growth requires in-person relationship support.  Pray that we will continue to find safe and meaningful ways to gather in Christ's Name.  "May the Lord of peace himself give you peace always in every way."  1 Thessalonians 3:16

10/24/2020

St Joe has been given a semi-truck load of Food Boxes from the Farmers To Families USDA program, to distribute to area families!   We receive the food next Tuesday, Oct 27th at 10 AM and plan to begin distributing these prepackaged food boxes at 1 PM.

We are asking for anyone who can volunteer to help in the following way:
  1. Pray before, during and after for every family who receives food!
  2. 10 AM volunteers to unload truck (strong backs and muscles)
  3. 12:30-3 PM sidewalk volunteers to distribute flyers, pray, label each vehicle according to how many boxes are needed (1 to 3 boxes depending on family size)
  4. 1-3 PM volunteers to load Food Boxes into vehicles
  5. 1-3 PM volunteers to receive guests in the building
  6. 3 PM volunteers to help with clean-up
  7. 3 PM volunteers to possibly deliver boxes to Lakeside Middle School and Forest Park Elementary School.
Divine Providence Baptist Church, Bible Life Community Church, Safe Families for Children and the FW Police Department are all providing volunteers too!

Volunteers need to wear masks and gloves.  Safety vests will be available but bring your own if you have one.  Bring a rain jacket in case of bad weather.

Thanks in advance for showing God's love to our community in a practical way!

Trunk or Treat 2020

10/17/2020

St Joe will hold its annual Trunk or Treat Saturday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Listening to state and local guidelines on social distancing, we’ll hold the event in the parking lot (weather permitting) with one parking space in between each trunk and all volunteers wearing masks and gloves. We’re are still open to trunk submissions which must be church appropriate (not ghoulish or witchcraft-y). We also appreciate any candy donations!
