The Story of Hagar
Genesis 16, 21:8-21
By Pastor Greg Byman
The Bible notes her as the mother of Ishmael, and the matriarch to Muslims, but Bible-believing, mission-minded Christians must consider what the story of Hagar explicitly and implicitly reveals about the character of God. Despite being mistreated by the people of God—Abraham and Sarah—to accomplish the things of God by man’s ways instead of God’s ways, God is still sweet, tender and faithful to this young woman. The story is a helpful reminder that God sees us and care for us beyond that which we can imagine. In this week’s message, Pastor Greg Byman dives into Genesis 16 and 21 to learn more about the story of Hagar, and therefore glean some insights about our own individual stories today.
