How to Walk Through Chaos
Part 4: Serve Others We are learning 5 ways to walk through chaos The first three steps focus on our personal development 1. Stick with Jesus 2. Trust God’s Word 3. Connect with God’s family The last two steps focus on giving ourselves to others 4. Serve others (today) 5. Share your story (next week) All of these steps work together to help us face chaos We must keep doing them all our lives, in and out of chaos! Jesus commands us to serve others Matthew 20:27-28 And whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. -The most important person is a servant of others -Jesus deserved to be served, but instead served us -He died to set us free from the chaos of sin and death Jesus served us to the very end of his own chaos! We are created to serve Ephesians 2-4 God planned it -Ephesians 2:10 created to do good works, prepared for us People develop us - -Ephesians 4:11-12 -Connect with God’s family- church leaders/mentors develop us Jesus unifies us -Ephesians 4:16 “From Him” we are enabled to serve -We are better together than we are by ourselves -Stick with Jesus! How to start serving Romans 12:1-8 Sacrifice vs 1 -“present your bodies as a living sacrifice -this is our true worship of God -serve begins by surrendering to God and his divine plan Renew your mind vs 2 -Trust God’s Word! Replace worldly thinking -God’s truth transforms us (gives us a desire to behave) -worldly wisdom just reforms us (makes us behave) Stay humble vs 3 -pride destroys the spirit of sacrifice and service -illustration: businesses/leaders look for “photo ops” -they do it to benefit themselves in the end -all true service is equal in God’s eyes -some have much to give, others have little…all the same! Cooperate with others vs 4-5 -We are ONE BODY, serving as different parts of this body! -Connect with God’s Family! -last week’s sermon -Jesus is not going to ask you to serve in a way that is in competition or in conflict with someone else Serve how God gifts you vs 6-8 -We give God’s grace to others as we serve- 1 Peter 4:10 -We need each other to experience God’s grace! How to walk through chaos: Serve Others! Matthew 20:27-28 And whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. How will you begin serving others?

Too many Christians, however, are unwittingly making New Year's resolutions to earn God's love. Today, Pastor Greg Byman concludes his study of Ephesians 4:15 on how Live a Godly Life, and this week we're finishing on your SHAPE:

November 18, 2018 St Joe Community Church You swore that you'd never (ever, ever...) say that like your father and never (ever, ever, ever...) say that like your mother and, yet, look at who you've become.... Is there an elephant in your parenting? Every parent begins parenthood the same way: a naked baby with no owner’s manual. Years, laughs and tears later, mom and dad have done some things right and other things...less than right. Through it all, God promises that he is bigger than the elephants in our parenting. In this third installment of the Elephant-free Family Life series, Pastor Greg Byman shares some principles about how a biblically-minded dad and mom can, with God's help, lead even the scariest bull elephants out to pasture where they belong, and recover authentic communication the way God designed it.
Psalm 139:23-24 English Standard Version (ESV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts![a] 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting![b] Notes

St Joe Community Church Sunday, November 11, 2018 Is there an elephant in your marriage? Every marriage needs a process for addressing hard issues. Whether a marriage has suffered through strife with in-laws, infidelity, chemical addiction, loss of a child, or any number of heart-wrenching struggles, God promises that he is bigger than the elephants in the room that we find too painful to address and resolve. In this second installment of the Elephant-free Family Life series, Pastor Greg Byman shares some principles about how a biblically-minded husband and wife can, with God's help, lead even the scariest bull elephants out to pasture where they belong, and bring peace to a home. What will you do with your next 52 weeks? New Year's resolutions are just around the corner, and Pastor Greg Byman offers some biblical principles on how and why to treasure the time God gives us. Some of us will actually get another 52 weeks in 2018. Some of us will not. All of us are charged to regard our time on earth as precious, and we discover how precious life is when we consider the giver of that time--God.

St. Joe is presently transcribing its entire sermon library to render its content more easily accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing, those who speak English as a second language, and to make the sermon content searchable for everybody. While machine transcription makes this logistically and financially more viable, accuracy is sometimes sacrificed. St. Joe is gradually replacing machine transcription with human transcription as time and financial resources allow. Each sermon costs between $30 to $60 to transcribe.
