Food truck coming 10/27
Hello all,
I'm including many people in this email to get the word out. We will be receiving a free truck load of food (approx 40,000 pounds of food) on Tuesday, Oct 27th at 10 AM, to give away. I am working on the details now.
The USDA bought up food when farmers lost their distribution chains during the pandemic, when restaurants were closed. Here are the details I received:
A semi load has between 1,000 and 1,200 boxes. Each box weights between 25 and 30 lbs and has a mixture of fresh produce, dairy items (could be things like butter, sour cream, yogurt, etc...), one gallon of milk, and approx 5 lbs of meat (the meat will be pre-cooked and packaged so that it can be refrigerated rather than frozen)
If you are able to help in any way during the day on Oct 27th please call or text me! 260-403-5255 Rod is bringing a forklift to help to offload pallets. I will contact all our neighborhood associations, our neighborhood schools, and any other places nearby to help get the word out about the free food. In addition, I hope everyone in our church will take a box to either use personally or give away.
More info to come soon, as it develops,
Greg
